See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. &quot;Come,&quot; they say, &quot;let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.&quot; With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you - the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, <strong>Philistia</strong>, with <strong>the people of Tyre</strong>. <strong>Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength</strong> to the descendants of Lot.&quot;</em> </p><p>Here, as in Joel 3, the names of Philistia and Tyre are specifically mentioned, corresponding geographically to the Gaza Strip and South Lebanon. </p><p>The interesting feature is the mention of the support being given by 'Assyria'. The actual territory of Assyria is roughly today's Kurdistan - that is parts of Iraq, Iran and Turkey. To the 'Valley of Jehoshaphat', but more well-known is 'to Armageddon' in Rev 16:16</p><p>As with most of these passages it is Israel that is in focus. v2 says that God is going to judge the nations for what they did to Israel -&nbsp;&quot;for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land&quot;. When did they do that then? Or ....</p><p>We go on... v6 &quot;you sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks that you might send them far from their homeland&quot;. Ringing any bells with you? What is this deal that is done?&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/12/08/051208164944.y49anqze.html" target="_blank">Is this link relevant?&nbsp;</a>&nbsp;</p><p>Wait.. what is that in v4 &quot;What have you against me <strong>Tyre and Sidon</strong> (Southern Lebanon) and all you <strong>regions of Philistia</strong> (The Gaza Strip)?&quot; The <u>exact places</u> that are right now making the headlines in Israel and around the world.</p><p>This was written thousands of years ago...</p><p>And they say the Bible isn't relevant for today!</p>]]></content></entry></feed>
